DIN type CS (304):

Oil seal type CS(304) is double metal cased: it features a metal outside diameter and a reinforcing cap for higher structural resilience. It has one sealing lip and one dust lip. Metal cased oil seals are recommended for housing seats of considerable surface roughness and subject to thermal expansion which generally make the sealing process more difficult. Such applications require a more precise finish of the seat because as the oil seal cannot compensate for its thermal expansion. Type C and CS oil seals are preffered for use with larger size applications in order to accommodate installation errors.

Rubber properties - Acrylnitrile-butadiene rubber NBR:

NBR rubber demonstrates excellent resistance to the effects of mineral oils. It also provides particularly good results with hydraulic oils, grease, diesel fuels plus other aliphatic hydrocarbons, diluted acids and alkaline solutions that do not contain aromatic or chlorinated additives. Its excellent mechanical properties, such as high resistance to pressure and abrasion, high stability and good temperature resistance (-20°C to +120°C), ensure a wide application range for this rubber.

Advantages:

- good oil and fuel resistance (especially to hydraulic oils)

- good working temperature range: (-20°C to +120°C) in oil

- good resistance to pressure

- good wear resistance and high tensile strength

- low swelling in water

Limitations:

- poor weather, light and ozone resistance

- poor resistance to polar fluids

- poor resistance to chlorinated hydrocarbons

- poor resistance to aromatic fluids
